March 2003

This area is mostly for my friends & family. Photos were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 4300.

More trip photos. Also some photos demostrating the ancient art of kite flying kung fu.

In a large departure from the past few months, most of the photos here are actually in focus.

That's right. Hello Kitty Beef Jerky.

I probably shouldn't be so excited about this. Maybe I'd prefer they stick with the status quo and market cow meat with cows? I dunno. Maybe it's because of the status quo that I would expect Hello Kitty meat in a package with her picture on it. Would you eat Hello Kitty? Hello Kitty probably isn't vegan, is she? Would Hello Kitty taste sweet?

View from Mulholland Drive, LA

LA is so big.

Nori

Nori is the ultimate cat model. She should consider a career in the movies or something. I could see a director thinking to himself, "I need the very symbol of what a cat is. I need 'cattishness itself.'" and then shouting to his assistant, "Call Nori!" You could crop this photo to show only her hind leg there, and it would still look like a cat. Uncanny.

The entrance to the Museum of Jurassic Technology, LA CA

If you ever get a chance to visit LA, you should make some time to visit this place. You'll spend the rest of the day trying to figure out whether it's a literary puzzle, a side-show, a joke, or an art installation.

Among other things, they have several exhibits of microscopic art. A man who makes sculptures that fit in the eye of a needle and another who made mosaics with scales from moth wings.

LA CA. Exact location uncertain.

Had to throw an abstract in here somewhere!

The Prominade street mall, LA CA.

My friend calls these "dinosaur chia pets." It's hard to tell from the photo, but I was inspired by how this one spat water out of its mouth.

A haiku to Baby Gap wear that looks like Maoist uniforms:

Three to six month size.
Cultural Revolution.
Cozy buttons up.

Near Venice Beach, LA CA

Nice composition. Nice bird. Nice washed-out lighting situation.

Kite Flying Kung Fu

My own admittedly beginner's demonstration of this meditative ancient art. These poses are as difficult to execute as they appear, even to uninitiated.

LA CA

Thats it.
